Celicia Serenata is the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) South Africa Deputy Country Director. She joined CHAI in August 2009 after working for 17 years in public health, 11 of which in the National Department of Health, 5 at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention South Africa, and just under a year at the South African National AIDS Council.
Celicia oversees the CHAI programme of approximately 50 staff at the national and provincial level, focusing on the following programmes including ART, HIV counseling and testing, monitoring and evaluation, drug access, health financing, pediatric HIV care and treatment, and caccines. Celicia has worked in HIV and AIDS since 1999. She has a graduate degree in Political Science and International Politics, and a post-graduate degree in Business.
