More than 4 million people globally received the lifesaving antiretroviral (ARV) medicines they needed to survive in 2008 – 1 million more than were accessing treatment in 2007, the United Nations reports in its 2009 Progress Report released on September 30.
In South Africa, which has more people living with HIV than any other nation, the number of people getting ARVs grew by half.

The number of people tested for HIV more than doubled in dozens of countries

The report cited the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) as contributor to the response...

Author David Bornstein writes about social innovation, and, on his first trip to the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) this week, he is watching it gather even more momentum in its fifth year.

On Friday, September 25, David is participating in the finance breakout session seminar, "Crossing Borders between Public, Private, and Philanthropic Finance." So far, he finds the Annual Meeting very inspiring and, from it, he gets the sense that the world is changing. "Companies would often pay lip service to needs like sustainability.
