Haiti Development Fund

The Haiti Development Fund (HDF) is a dual bottom line fund that seeks to make investments (debt/equity) in small and medium-sized enterprises (“SMEs”) in Haiti in need of growth capital, with an emphasis on job creation and reducing the barriers to entry. The Fund measures success not only in terms of financial but social returns as well.

The HDF intern works in the Clinton Foundation office. The overall objective is to expose the intern to HDF’s comprehensive deal making process from responding to prospects’ inquiries to assisting staff in the due diligence phase to monitoring and reporting on the performance of investee companies. Daily responsibilities include assisting the Fund Manager and Investment Analyst in the performance of their duties. The intern will also provide support in conducting research of market sectors and writing briefs on companies.

An ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of financial statements, be able to set priorities, take initiative, think creatively, and work independently with numbers and under pressure. Good communication skills and the willingness to work with and learn from a dynamic team are also key qualities.
