Since a 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated Haiti last January, the Clinton Foundation and affiliates have been working with Haitians to increase access to electricity and inexpensive, renewable energy. Projects such as solar farms, clean energy stores, solar flashlights, and clean-burning briquettes will improve Haitians’ quality of life and lay the foundations for sustainable development.
Building on a lifetime of public service, President Bill Clinton established the William J. Clinton Foundation to bring people together to take on the biggest challenges of the 21st century. Throughout the Foundation’s history and growth, Secretary Clinton and Chelsea offered their voice, vision, and counsel. To recognize their past contributions and acknowledge their role in shaping the Foundation’s future, the Foundation was renamed the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.
Over the past 11 years, the Foundation has built innovative partnerships among governments, businesses, NGOs, and private citizens to strengthen health systems in developing countries, fight climate change, expand economic opportunity in Africa, Latin America, and the United States, and help Americans live healthier lives. Additionally, Clinton Global Initiative members have made nearly 2,300 Commitments to Action to improve more than 400 million lives in more than 180 countries. Today the Foundation remains committed to addressing inequalities and delivering tangible results that improve people’s lives all over the world.
