Africa 2012: Day 1 Recap

Share

Yesterday in Johannesburg, President Clinton visited Ikusasalethu, a City Year service site, where the City Year team was repainting old shipping containers that are used for afterschool tutoring and meals programs. View a gallery of the visit.

President Clinton helped launched City Year South Africa in 2005 with Nelson Mandela, and in 2006, through the Clinton Global Initiative, City Year committed to expand its program there. Since then more than 1,200 young South Africans have served through the program. AnnMaura Connolly, chief strategy officer and executive vice president of City Year, writes on our blog about how the organization has strengthened communities by bringing young citizens together – inspired by President Clinton's belief that young people can change the world.

Today President Clinton travels to Mozambique to visit more Foundation projects. You can follow his visit here on Clinton Foundation | Up Close as well as receive regular updates on Facebook and Twitter.
