New York, NY — Tomorrow, Saturday, July 14, 2012, President Clinton will visit Africa, traveling to South Africa, Mozambique, Rwanda, and Uganda.

In 1998, President Clinton made his first trip to Africa. Since then, he has continued to visit Africa and support its economy during his post-presidential work. President Clinton has continued to build upon his longstanding commitment to Africa through the work of his Foundation by providing investment and opportunity to underserved communities. The Clinton Foundation’s programs in Africa are enabling sustainable development for families and communities, strengthening health systems and expanding access to treatments, addressing climate change, and turning ideas into action by implementing commitments.

Across the continent, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) has reduced prices up to 90 percent for key HIV drugs, up to 80 percent for HIV diagnostics, and helped more than 4 million people gain access to lifesaving antiretroviral medications. The Clinton Climate Initiative, in partnership with C40, has been working with Johannesburg, South Africa, to support the development of alternative waste treatment technologies, and has worked with the city government to remove 20,000 tons of organic waste from city parks. Through the work of the Clinton Development Initiative, more than 4.5 million trees planted by more than 4,000 producers in Malawi and Rwanda will help reverse deforestation and increase local incomes. And Clinton Global Initiative members have made 759 of their own commitments with an estimated value of over $27.8 billion, focused on working to build a better future across the continent.

On this trip, President Clinton will visit Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) program sites.

On Sunday, July 15, President Clinton will be in Johannesburg, South Africa. There, he will visit a CGI City Year site at Ikusasalethu Secondary School. The visit will be open press.

On Monday, July 16, 2012, President Clinton will travel to Mozambique. There, he will visit CHAI’s Polana Canhico Health Facility in Maputo and deliver remarks. The visit will be open press.

On Tuesday, July 17, 2012, President Clinton will be in Qunu, South Africa. There, he will attend the opening of a container library at the No-Moscow Primary School in Qunu, in celebration of Mandela Day. The visit will be open press.

On Wednesday, July 18, 2012, President Clinton will be in Rwanda.

In the afternoon, he will attend the opening of the Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence with Paul Farmer and Jeff Gordon. The center was created through a CGI commitment by the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation and Partners in Health. The visit will be open press.

On Thursday, July 19, 2012, President Clinton will visit the Mount Meru SoyCo Ltd. Construction Site. The SoyCo site, a Clinton Development Initiative (CDI) project, will be a fully integrated edible oil processing plant. President Clinton will tour the site and participate in a roundtable discussion with local farmers. The visit will be open press.

Later in the afternoon, President Clinton will make an open press announcement.

On Friday, July 20, 2012, President Clinton will be in Uganda. There, he will visit a CGI Building Tomorrow Academy, where he will meet with students and teachers. The visit will be open press.

In the afternoon, he will travel to a CHAI National Medical Store and Prescription Distribution Center in Entebbe, Uganda. There he will tour the facility, participate in a roundtable event, and deliver remarks. The event will be open press.
