News: September Goes Healthy

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation kicked off the second annual "Go Healthy" Month, inviting kids across the nation to join the fun and get fit. Activities held throughout September around the nation will include kid-hosted forums, 'Recess by the River' field day events, and an exciting new interactive, online game called the myGo Healthy Challenge. Nonprofit and community organizations will help the Alliance to educate, engage, and empower youth to take charge of their own health and even inspire their families to get healthy, too. From home, kids can embark on an online journey and take the myGo Healthy Challenge at www.igohugo.org.

Go Healthy Month begins as kids are going back to school - a perfect time to establish healthy routines that can last the entire school year! The Alliance's Healthy Schools Program is supporting more than 3,000 schools through in person and online resources and ideas to make school environments healthier for students and staff. Going into its third year, the Healthy Schools Program has already helped many schools to transform lunch menus, enact fun group exercise clubs, and get students involved in thinking up new ways to be healthier.
