2.5 million trees planted to offset carbon and increase local incomes.
In addition to market-driven agricultural efforts, CHDI continues to work with the government of Rwanda and other NGOs to reverse deforestation through a large-scale carbon-offset program. CHDI has worked with the Rwandan government to help communities plant 2.5 million fruit and forest tree seedlings in 40 new nurseries. These seedlings will help reforestation by improving erosion control, fruit production, and nitrogen fixing.
