MEDIA ADVISORY: Chelsea Clinton to Lead “Day of Action” for City of Coachella

The Clinton Foundation, City of Coachella and JFK Hospital will mobilize volunteers for a day of action

NEW YORK, NY - On Monday, January 13th, the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation will bring together volunteers for a “Day of Action,” for the city of Coachella. Ahead of the third annual Health Matters: Activating Wellness in Every Generation Conference at the La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, California, the “Day of Action” will both complete necessary home renovation and community beautification projects and also provide helpful resources to increase the health and well-being of the community.

Led by Chelsea Clinton, the City of Coachella and JFK Hospital, volunteers, many from the Desert Communities Fuller Center for Housing, will participate in multiple service projects near the Our Lady of Soledad Church in Coachella, beautifying the neighborhood and repairing homes. In addition, JFK Hospital will be providing free health screenings and other health information, FIND Food Bank will set up their mobile pantry to distribute food, Hidden Harvest will provide healthy snacks, the Coachella Office on Aging will have an InfoVan on site to inform Seniors of services and California Endowment will be offering additional health resources. A healthy lunch will be provided for volunteers by McDonald’s.

The day will begin with kick off remarks from Gary Honts, CEO of JFK Hospital, Coachella Mayor Eduardo Garcia and Clinton Foundation Vice Chair Chelsea Clinton.

Founded by Chelsea Clinton in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Clinton Foundation Day of Action program seeks to create service opportunities and mobilize thousands of volunteers to give back to their respective communities. Since 2012, the Clinton Foundation has hosted eight Day of Action events in New York, Chicago, St. Louis, and Rio de Janeiro, which have mobilized more than 2,400 volunteers donating more than 12,600 volunteer hours.
