Our Model

The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) is unlike any other initiative of the Clinton Foundation. Rather than directly implementing projects, CGI facilitates cross-sector partnerships that, in turn, create and carry out projects of their own choosing. CGI members hail from a wide variety of professions, cultural and religious backgrounds, and geographic regions. Heads of state, corporate and non- profit executives, academics, media representatives, religious leaders, university students, and global citizens come together within the CGI community to develop unique solutions to global problems. Members make Commitments to Action – concrete, measurable steps towards improving lives worldwide.

There are four main forums for participation in CGI. These include:

CGI Annual Meeting
The successful model of global citizenship on which all other CGI programs are based, the Annual Meeting continues to convene more than 1,000 global leaders in New York City each September, producing record numbers of Commitments to Action every year. Learn more.

CGI Asia
Building on the achievements of CGI’s Annual Meetings in New York, and in response to growing international interest, CGI will hold a series of meetings in different regions of the world beginning with CGI Asia in Hong Kong later this year. Learn more.

CGI U
CGI University (CGI U) engages students and universities in CGI’s mission to address pressing global challenges. The first meeting of CGI U took place in March 2008, bringing together more than 600 students at Tulane University in New Orleans. Learn more at www.cgiu.org.

MyCommitment.org
Every person – regardless of age, income, or education – can do something that has a lasting impact and makes a difference in the lives of others. MyCommitment.org provides each of us with the tools to convert our ideas into action while connecting with other people who share the same vision for change. Make your Commitment today at www.mycommitment.org.

Ubuntu: From Vulnerability to Commitment
At CGI's Annual Meeting 2007, Vincent Mai made a commitment to expand Ubuntu Education Fund. Now Ubuntu offers counseling, ARV therapy, and food packages to orphans and vulnerable children who might otherwise slip through the cracks.
