Born in Chile, raised and educated in the U.S., and for the past decade working across the globe while residing in Amsterdam, Maria Bobenrieth has over 20 years of international business management experience. She has worked for major brands, applying innovative, multi-sector approaches to solve business and social challenges. From 1998 to 2009, Bobenrieth worked in various capacities at NIKE, most recently serving as the global director of community investments, where she met Astrid Aafjes and supported her dream to start Women Win. Bobenrieth served as the first chair of the Board of Directors of Women Win and stepped down from the board in 2010 to join the organization as executive director. Throughout her life and career, Bobenrieth has been actively engaged in social justice issues, serving on the board of the Homeless World Cup and as a technical advisor to global sport for development organizations. Bobenrieth is a passionate advocate of women’s rights and the use of sports as a powerful tool for change.
