Growing up, “we” was a word I was taught to use much more often than “me”. I was raised in an environment where a strong emphasis was placed on my family and my community, and social justice and civic engagement define who I am.
This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the power of mothers, grandmothers, sisters and women worldwide. In our work, we’ve seen that when moms are empowered, they can transform families, communities, and even generations – they have a unique power to inspire us and make a difference.
When many of us think about health and how to improve it for ourselves and for others, we envision hospitals, healthy foods, physical activity, and lifesaving devices. But what about visions of clean air, accessible and abundant water, and moderate temperatures?
