In 2011, CGI launched the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Action Network to raise awareness of both the need and opportunity in the region, and to provide a platform to bring together members from disparate sectors that are working in the country.

While rich in resources such as water, rainforests, and fertile soil— and vast deposits of mineral wealth including coltan, cobalt, copper, diamonds and gold—the DRC continues to face economic and social development challenges. The DRC Action Network uses a multisector approach to identify and implement solutions to address the short- and long-term issues obstructing the sustainable livelihoods of the Congolese.

  • Provide a neutral space for cross-sector collaboration in order to identify shared goals and opportunities for partnership

  • Build a community to share challenges, learnings, best practices, and resources

  • Highlight opportunities in the DRC through programming and CGI commitments

  • Facilitate the development of new Commitments to Action that address critical needs in the region
