Banking for Impact: Investing in the Base of the Pyramid

Commitment by

I-Dev International

In 2014, I-DEV International committed to facilitating $100 million of transactions in equity, debt, and mezzanine capital to social enterprises and high-impact local businesses in Latin America, East and West Africa, and South Asia over the next three years. It will provide these businesses with investment banking and financial advisory services. The firm has developed a network of over 60 impact and emerging market investors with a total of $10 billion in committed capital. The Financial Services Group within I-DEV is playing a vital role in leveraging this network to help high-impact SGBs scale through the injection of capital from impact-focused investors, corporate partnerships, and crowdfunding platforms. While brokering transactions is not new, creating a market for large-scale impact focused investment flows to SGBs in the emerging markets is. As the quality and historical record of these enterprises increases, I-DEV will use financial savvy, creativity, and dedication to match the right forward-thinking investors with appropriate high-impact.
