The commitment will initiate a fundraising campaign - BELIEVE - that will collect donations to alleviate poverty in developing countries around the world. Donations will be driven from products and services offered by a select group of luxury brands.
The inspiration for this commitment is directly linked to CGI. During the CGI 2007 Mid-Year Meeting, Guillaume Gauthereau, CEO of Lalique, was deeply inspired by testimonials of people whose lives had changed as a result of CGI member commitments. One fact in particular struck him profoundly: that $1 in a developed country was worth about $100 in an undeveloped one. Reflecting on his role within the luxury industry, he thought about the cost of goods and services and what an incredible support the entire industry could be to those in dire poverty around the world. Lalique is delighted to be part of the CGI and allow BELIEVE to benefit from its membership..
BELIEVE is dedicated to addressing the physiological needs - food, water, shelter, clothing, and health - of impoverished people by raising funds and distributing them through poverty alleviation charities in developing countries around the globe.
The BELIEVE campaign will aggregate donations from a percentage of sales revenue taken from each luxury brand's exclusive products and services offered to the public. Funds gathered from donations will be shared with an alliance of poverty alleviation charities that relieve the address the physiological needs of people in developing countries around the globe.
First year costs will include the hire of one executive director and one finance director, and the outsourcing of a graphic designer, copy writer, web designer, and PR firm.
