APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY
At CGI U, Campus Progress will identify four youth-led organizations in youth-led communities working on LGBTQ equality, immigration, and higher education. The organizations can be student-led initiatives working on progressive issues. They will have applications available on site and on-line. The organizations can submit applications on-site or at a later date. The deadline to apply is mid-August.
IMPLEMENTATION, TIMELINE AND DELIVERABLES
Campus Progress will recruit four new organizations at the Clinton Global Initiative University based upon their commitment to action and overall organization mission statement. After the organizations have been identified, Campus Progress will award funding grants based upon their specific needs and goals. They will fill out a short application that entails those specific needs and goals. The amount granted will vary based on their needs.
Campus Progress will analyze each group based on their stage of development
Leadership: If an organization is lacking in sustainable leadership, they will send out training materials which include detailed instructions for creating organizational leadership.
Capacity Building: If an organization is lacking in capacity building, Campus Progress will send out specific material based on successful methods in outreach, advertising, and campaign structure (if applicable for groups which work for a specific piece of legislation).
Each organization is allotted $1,500. This amount will vary based on their specific needs.
Campus Progress will choose the organizations based upon concrete, progressive campaign plans. Campus Progress will identify the organizations and conduct an in-depth overview of their goals. Campus Progress will fund the organization on the premise of detailed reports on policy change, capacity building, and leadership facilitation. In Fall of 2012, Campus Progress will follow-up with the organizations to ensure those goals are met.
Campus Progress' Commitment to Action addresses the need for leadership and sustainability for youth-led organizations across the country. Many youth-led organizations lack support from outside groups and as a result, rarely meet their internal goals. They lack funding, leadership, and capacity to sustain their movement.
