We commit to work with Climate Wedge, a non-profit, to determine our 'carbon footprint,' and work with the organization to purchase carbon offsets.
CAA is the top talent agency in the world, representing the likes of Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, Bruce Springsteen and many others in the worlds of movies, music, and television.
CAA was inspired to become carbon neutral when our client Roland Emmerich made his most recent movie, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW.
Before writing the screenplay for THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, Roland and collaborator Jeffrey Nachmanoff contacted some of the leading environmental scientists in the world, and with their guidance, they wrote a great screenplay - full of all the action and adventure we've come to expect of the director of INDEPENDENCE DAY and STARGATE - but also complete with a message about the dangers and potential disaster of global warming. To be sure, it was a work of entertainment and of fiction. But also a work with a message.
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW went on to become a worldwide hit, grossing over million dollars worldwide at the box office, and selling millions of DVD's.
Roland also put his money where his voice was. Out of his own pocket - to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars - he paid for carbon offsets to offset the environmental impact of the production of his movie. In fact, it is Roland's leadership that has led CAA to make this pledge to the Clinton Global Initiative.
