Via CGDC's members, and cooperation partners, as well as contacts with different academic institutions in the Western Balkans, CGDC will organize and enable students from the Western Balkans Region to secure scholarships in post-graduate education each year for the next five years. The last students will graduate in summer 2016. CGDC consists of prominent politicians, businessmen and scholars. Discussions are currently underway with several educational institutes, and a co-operation is currently in place with a University which is capable of providing the targeted post-graduate education.
IMPLEMENTATION, TIMELINE, AND DELIVERABLES
Early Fall 2010: Organizational matters will be dealt with, and CGDC will invite students from the Western Balkans to apply through educational institutes. Selected individuals will be assisted with the whole procedure of transferring and adapting to the new educational setting. CGDC will assist the students with their accommodation and organize a system to keep track of their progress during the course of their studies. Successful applicants will start attending their studies in diverse fields for a period of approximately two years. As such, every year ten students will start their studies.
People of the Western Balkans belong to different ethnic and religious groups. Western Balkans is the only region in Europe where Catholic, Orthodox Christians, and Muslims have lived together for centuries. Following the fall of Communism, the dialogue between these diverse groups has diminished. CGDC sees an opportunity to make a lasting and positive change by investing in the education of young people, so that they may learn, understand, and embrace their differences. This will help them live and work for their common benefits. This is very important and urgent because these young men and women will become the future leaders of the Western Balkans region.
