Child Health Education: Challenging Healthier Teachers

Commitment by

Jawbone

In 2011, Jawbone committed to work with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices. During the first year of the program, Jawbone worked with the Alliance to develop the program, and in the second year, the organization will focus on the program's implementation. After project development, Jawbone will provide the Alliance's Healthy Schools Program with 25,000 'UP by Jawbone' bands, which they will give to school staff to encourage healthier habits. These bands, worn 24 hours per day, and a smart phone application will allow users to track key healthy habits including: activity, diet, and sleep. Jawbone will also provide a challenge platform, allowing teams or schools to compete with each other on implementation. By modeling healthy behaviors, staff will inspire students.
