Commitment to Action

Decreasing Youth Violence on the Southside of Chicago

Commitment by

Leave No Veteran Behind

In 2012, Leave No Veteran Behind committed to implement its Educational Assurance Program in three Chicago public schools located in areas terrorized by gang activity. Through its transitional work program, LNVB will hire as many as 53 Veterans per day to provide an adult presence in the neighborhoods surrounding the schools before and after classes take place. In addition, the program will leverage the operational skillsets of the nation's military Veterans, thereby creating awareness of Veterans as strategic assets to their communities that are capable of improving local communities, strengthening small businesses, and decreasing the skills gap in America's national economy.
