By bringing together future leaders from throughout the continent to create a pan-African network of leaders, the African Leadership Academy (ALA) can drive the integration of the continent. By focusing its curriculum on leadership and entrepreneurship, ALA will increase the supply of ethical and effective leaders and large-scale entrepreneurs. Together, these leaders and entrepreneurs will create positive change on the African continent.
African Leadership Academy will be the first school in the world that aims to develop leadership for an entire continent. In so doing, it will address the lack of effective and ethical leaders in Africa. With a heavy emphasis on entrepreneurship, ALA will also address the lack of entrepreneurs by developing the chronic shortage of large-scale entrepreneurs. By adopting a pan-African approach, ALA will help to address the lack of cooperation and integration between countries in Africa, the third problem identified above.
ALA aims to extend its reach far beyond the 250 students who will be at the Academy at any given time by establishing itself as a 'center of excellence' that will spread best practices among schools throughout Africa. ALA's outreach program consists of:
- Sending its staff to train teachers at other schools on ALA's methods and curricula. These teachers, once trained, can then replicate key aspects of ALA in their communities.
- Sharing its leadership, entrepreneurship, and African studies curricula with thousands of schools throughout Africa. This is essentially delivering 'ALA in a box' to the schools.
- Conducting short-term programs for several hundred students at a time on the ALA campus during the three months of each year when ALA students are on vacation. Through its initial outreach efforts, ALA has already established relationships with over 600 schools in Africa who are eager to participate in this outreach program.
African Leadership Academy (ALA) is continually seeking partners who can help to provide financial support as well as strategic connections in sourcing eligible candidates for ALA programs, aiding in university placements, and providing internship and career opportunities to our graduates. We are always eager to build new partnerships and learn how we can mutually benefit from the relationship.
