Herat Gynecological and Surgical Hospital
In 2009, the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) committed to provide infrastructure, and technical and logistical support for a small gynecological and surgical hospital in Herat, Afghanistan through the identification of funders for needed equipment, the purchase of this equipment, and the supervision of its installation.
The gynecological and surgical hospital was opened in February 2011, and was able to serve over 950 patients in its first month of operation. AIL continues to work with 5 rural health clinics in Afghanistan, which were able to safely deliver over 300 babies in 2010.
