Given the immediate import of hybridizing automobiles, ALTe Powertrain Technologies (ALTe) commits to converting 10,000 existing vehicles to plug-in electric hybrid systems in 2013 ramping to 90,000 units annually by 2016. In addition, the ALTe commits to ultimately creating 650 new direct jobs direct and potentially 650 additional indirect jobs, including electric vehicle charging station installers and maintenance staff, with an emphasis on recruitment of socio-economically disadvantaged communities, including veterans.
Beginning immediately with the CGI announcement, the ALTe will pursue a major capital raise to facilitate the expansion required conditioned on achieving 25,000 units of commitment from incremental customers. Firm purchase orders can then be placed in the supply base to result in an increase in the size of their labor force. At ALTe, and throughout its extended supply chain, hiring practices will be revised and revamped in order to assure the highest socially-conscious values are implemented in the job creation process.
ALTe further commits to create and utilize a website and database as the mechanism to collect customer information and facilitate the aggregation and execution of the large industry 'buy.' This website will enable linkages of all key stakeholders necessary for the realization of scale adoption of plug in hybrid and electric vehicles. ALTe will use its internal IT, marketing resources, and cash to facilitate the linkages with industry partners. Additionally, ALTe will spearhead and execute contracts with key stakeholder industry partners to ensure a seamless experience for the buyer/user of the website.
Appropriate to the scale of the task, ALTe is designating a Social-Environmental Officer to manage this initiative, as well as providing oversight company-wide to audit procedures. In addition, ALTe will multiply outreach efforts to fleet owners to assure the broadest reach possible for the electrification effort.

Moving to a day in which all cars on the road are some version of plug in hybrid or electric vehicles will prove to be the dawn of a new age of energy independence and reduced carbon output. In the second decade of the new millennium, vexingly little progress has been made towards this goal; an overwhelming portion of the United States' vehicles are dependent solely on petroleum. This presents world economies with massive downside economic risks, national security threats, dramatic social, and environmental costs as oil continues to increase in price and use.
ALTe Powertrain is committed to breaking the logjam that has thwarted substantial breakthroughs in the movement to hybrid vehicles by adding the concept and option of retrofitting existing cars in world fleets. By hybridizing and electrifying existing vehicles, government and corporate owners of vehicle fleets as well as consumers can avoid the massive sunk cost of abandoning their existing vehicle investments. For a relatively affordable investment, an existing vehicle in the form of a traditionally-fueled truck, van, or bus can be converted to a hybrid/electric automobile. With a payoff period of less than three years in most use cases, significant GDP savings can be achieved, freeing fuel expenditures to be used on more lasting economic and social investments. A nationwide or global embrace of hybridization and electrification would provide a massive boon to job creation as the conversions are carried out and new supply chains emerge.
What the electric vehicle and supporting component industry has been lacking is essentially a guarantee of demand in the form of firm purchase orders to justify investments in the product technology, human resources, and production capacity needed to provide electric components at affordable costs.
This commitment seeks to facilitate a significant confirmation of demand in the form of an aggregated purchase order generated through a grassroots crowdsourcing initiative leveraging social media and the CGI name.
