Commitment to Action

Improving Global Access to Safe Water and Sanitation

Commitment by

University of California, Berkeley

In 2006, the University of California, Berkeley committed to expand student engagement in achieving the water-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). To do so, UC Berkeley dedicated time and resources to training a cohort of qualified students who could become professionals in water, sanitation, and development . With the opportunity to enroll in hands-on, project-based development courses, and to participate in water and sanitation internships around the globe, these students would have the perspective and experience necessary to expedite our progress towards improving global access to water and sanitation.
