Jolkona aims to use their time at the CGI U Exchange to connect with university students and other youth-based non-profit organizations. They will ask the students to make a commitment based on one of the issues featured on the Jolkona Foundation's website. After the conference, Jolkona Foundation will work with the students to make sure the students are supported as they aim for their impact goals. The key deliverable for JolkonaU is to complete the resource kit and make it available on Jolkona Foundation's website.
Beyond CGIU, Jolkona Foundation will pilot the program with student organizations in local universities (e.g. University of Washington and Seattle University) and high schools. The goal is to target 2 universities and 4 high schools for the pilots. Jolkona Foundation will work with educators and parents in the Seattle area to design programs that will appeal to high school students - either in the classroom or through other activities.
Jolkona Foundation will also identify and connect with appropriate student organizations (e.g. Entrepreneurship Club, fraternities, and sororities) through presentations, events, and partnerships. The focus here will be to encourage college students to self organize and come together around a specific cause that they feel passionate about themselves.
Jolkona Foundation hopes to report back on their impact around the world in 2011 CGIU Meeting.
Jolkona Foundation connects people with global philanthropic projects and demonstrates impact for every donation. As a member of the Jolkona Community, the donor picks from a portfolio of projects, gives to those projects, and then gets a report on the impact of that donation. The foundation is on track to have over 100 projects and over ,000 in donations. Jolkona Foundation continues to invest heavily in making sure that the donors are very happy with quality of the projects on the site and the feedback they are receiving from projects.
In 2010, the Foundation commits to making it easier for students to also get involved in this form of giving. Through the JolkonaU program, the Foundation will build an online resource kit for high school and college students to support the causes they feel passionate about. JolkonaU will be primary targeted towards campus-based student organizations and classrooms.
