Cool Globes, Incorporated will be established to design and implement the premiere of the 'Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet' program, a public art exhibition and educational initiative kicking off in Chicago. The public art exhibition is modeled after 'Cows on Parade' and will display dozens of 5-foot diameter globe sculptures, each themed with a solution to global warming. To generate additional excitement throughout the summer-long event, Cool Globes and the City of Chicago will host a speaker series featuring business leaders and policymakers, as well as musicians, scientists and religious leaders. The environmental educational initiative will provide classroom materials and exhibition field guides to all of the city's public schools.
Artwork and educational materials will be underwritten with funding secured through corporate sponsors, grants and philanthropic individuals. 100% of the proceeds will benefit environmental education programs.
There is a wide discrepancy between the public's concern for climate change and the scientific community's alarm. Some studies attribute this discrepancy to citizens' feelings of powerlessness before the challenges at hand. It is my goal to present the public with practical solutions to climate change in an energetic and inclusive atmosphere that appeals to a cross-cutting demographic. The program is also designed to reward policymakers, executives, and other community leaders for their action on climate change, and provides further incentive to progressive ideals. Cool Globes is an opportunity for public advocates across all sectors to receive recognition for their leadership and empower others to join in affecting positive change.
