Launching Noor Dubai

In September 2008, HH. SHK Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai, launched Noor Dubai as an initiative to support prevention of blindness globally. The latest worldwide estimates from the World Health Organization are that more than 161 million people are visually impaired. Of those, 37 million are blind and 124 million have low vision. So far, 5.8 Million individuals from poor rural areas in the Middle East, Africa and South-East Asia benefited from the Noor Dubai programs. These programs included treatment, prevention and education and training.
