As part of this commitment, Serebra will adapt its suite of technologies and internet applications to serve people in developing nations, and create new technologies that improve employability skills. To do so, Serebra will use feedback offered by users in the developing world to make the site more comprehensible for those who speak English as their second language, re-building each screen image and text based on usability studies.
When the modules are complete, Serebra will work with Etisalat Academy of Dubai to donate 12,000 e-learning courses over 6 months to over 30 countries worldwide. These courses (including desktop skills, professional development and information technology & programming courses) typically sell for more than each in the United States and are valued at on average in the developing world. Serebra will also work with Etisalat Academy to distribute over 400,000 more courses. As partners in this commitment, Etisalat Academyi will sell some of these 400,000 modules at market rates, donating some of its profits to worthwhile causes as well. Serebra has charged Etisalat Academy with the responsibility of selecting recipients for the donated courses in the hopes that they will reach students in developing nations with the most desire to develop their skills through advanced ICT e-learning courseware. Additionally, through Serebra Connect, Serebra will help members (at no charge) apply those gained skills to earn an income from international buyers, with small task requirements, who post outsource tasks on the Serebra Connect website.
Based in Vancouver, Canada, Serebra Learning Corporation has more than 20 years experience using the latest technology to deliver innovative personal and professional development e-learning courses to individuals and companies worldwide. Serebra does so through its Serebra Campus and easyLearning platforms offering ICT training in topics ranging from desktop skills to programming.
Serebra has identified significant gaps in developing nations between the more academic courses taught at colleges and universities and the courses that best create more employability. The company believes that its platforms offer opportunities to fill that gap by providing critical ICT information. However, established courses need to be designed to meet the needs of these new users and adapted for a wide range of venues.
