Legal Assistance for Success in Haiti
In 2009, IDLO committed to provide legal advice through its Haitian Alumni Association to CGI Member NGOs working in Haiti, in order to facilitate their work and enhance the sustainability of their achievements. Such advice and assistance could include setting up a legal entity, conclusion of leases and employment contracts, compliance with local tax and other company law, and other matters as necessary to support the work of CGI Member NGOs in meeting their goals for the benefit of the Haitian people.
As of June 2011, IDLO acquired sufficient funds to initiate project development, and has planned two missions to Haiti so as to identify appropriate partners, determine the legal issues confronting re-housing programs, and convene working groups to develop appropriate and scalable solutions.
