Omada Health: Lifestyle Intervention for Prediabetes

Commitment by

Esther Dyson

In 2011, Esther Dyson committed $50,000 to support diabetes prevention in partnership with Silicon Valley startup Omada Health. Omada is building a social, patient-centered, web-based program for the prevention of type 2 diabetes which builds upon well-known clinical precedent such as the landmark Diabetes Prevention Program, which evidenced success for lifestyle interventions at the point of prediabetes. Omada Health aims to create a highly scalable, engaging, and effective program that supports the 80 million people in the U.S. with prediabetes, and demonstrates a compelling, short-term return on investment to payers. Over two years, this commitment will support the testing of early product prototypes, and connect patients with prediabetes to facilitators trained in administering behavioral change interventions.
