Pathways to Learning

Commitment by

University of Arizona

In 2005, the University of Arizona committed $5 million of its total projected cost of $18 million to fund the research and development of a new technology (now called 'Zonebee') that could support Informal Learning, one of the most critical skills of the 21st Century. This new software can deliver personalized learning opportunities tailored to the interests and capabilities of its users and is accessible to people in the developed and developing worlds.
So far about $3.4 million have been spent for the design and construction of a new Science Center in Tucson, AZ. Additionally, a novel approach and technology to design inexpensive and highly interactive exhibits has successfully been demonstrated and an online beta of the software (first phase) is now available on www.zonebee.com <http://www.zonebee.com>.
