We will build monitoring, evaluation, benchmarks/step by step plan for the program in the design phase.10, 000 students will go through the program. Peace jobs will be created by students and youth. Those peace jobs will create sustainable change that will be measurable.
The creation of our entrepreneurs of peace and sustainability program will be launched through our participation in the 3rd session of the THNK program, which will focus on scaling sustainable business models and on new teacher models in education. Within that context, THNK and the Student Peace Alliance, together with top notch designers, social entrepreneurs, and socially conscious investors, will design (March to August 2013) an Entrepreneurs of Peace and Sustainability Program tailored to peace studies students, and will implement the first iteration of the program from September 2013 to August 2014. The program aims at addressing, through job creation and transformation, the gap between the peacebuilding needs of our world and the high un/underemployment rate of peace studies graduates. Our goal is to empower 10, 000 students to productively remain in the field of peacebuilding through the creation of at least 5 world changing innovations/enterprises across sectors (public, private, non-profit).
SPA is working to address youth violence, to make youth violence prevention a reality at home and a powerful norm of our foreign aid. SPA advocates for cost-effective peacebuilding legislation such as the Youth Promise Act, or appropriation for USIP and complex crises fund. SPA also promotes and delivers peace education, and is embarking on a peace jobs creation program.
The Student Peace Alliance and its Peace Jobs endeavor is seeking investors, businesses, institutions, and organizations interested in the concept of Peace Jobs, website and video production support, media space and opportunities, and love from individuals, with or without celebrity status, who think this difficult endeavor is well-worth the effort.
SPA is eager to paint its experience in creative leadership wherever it is invited, and happy to engage its growing Peace Alliance umbrella network (70,000 to a goal of a million) on relevant issues. SPA is also eager to share best practices and/or join forces in Peace Jobs creation. SPA is happy to lend its expertise in community organizing, advocacy, restorative justice, and peace building education.
