Since 2001, the Clinton Foundation has worked to improve lives around the world and build upon President Clinton’s legacy of public service.
Recapitalizing Haitian Women through Microfinance and Ed.
In 2008, Fonkoze committed to raise funds to put new, interest-free loans into the hands of 14,000 poor women who lost all their business assets as a result of Hurricanes Fay, Gustave, Hanna and Ike. This commitment will allow women to recapitalize their businesses and put their families back on track in their struggle to overcome extreme poverty.
As of April 2011, Fonkoze completed the commitment by distributing recapitalization loans to nearly 14,000 women with an extended one-year repayment period and reduced interest. Many of the recipients of the loans were able to improve their poverty and food security status.
