The S.D. Sharma School of Democracy will be set up at Lucknow University to train newly elected state and federal legislators in democracy. The goal is to train 500 elected officials in India per year, including all the elected representatives from Panchayats, Legislative Assemblies, Legislative Councils, Members of Parliament, Student Union Leaders, students, and faculty members. The three criteria for the school's success will include teaching, training, and research.
In compliance with Paragraph Six of its ordinances, the Institute's objective will provide: PG Dipoloma in Democracy and Governance; training to representatives in democratic institutions; and four research units for conducting in-depth research in aspects of democracy.
