This commitment supports The Thabang Children's Project, which operates on a three-pronged approach to achieving its mission:
1) Community work in a nearby informal settlement to implement the project in the target community and to build up a contact network
2) A Place of Safety for Male Juvenile offenders other than prison and street boys, or boys out of problematic families
3) A Place of Safety for orphaned, abandoned, and neglected children.

Ten years after the apartheid era, South Africa is striving to become a democratic and modern society. Facing its political, economic, and social challenges is an integral part of a successful change. Widespread poverty, high crime rates, and rapid spread of HIV/AIDS need to be overcome. Change needs to begin at home. Support and hope for children and women, and the empowerment of families and caretakers, are needed for a positive change. Building these foundations in the communities is the fundamental issue to be addressed on the long run. Since a whole generation of children is threatened by being orphaned or abandoned the work of Thabang Children's Home Project focuses on abandoned and vulnerable children and caretakers. The Thabang Children's Project is a privately-funded, non-profit organization that aims to support children and caregivers affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty. The Thabang Children's Project works to provide counseling and support for needy children and their caretakers within the community, a safe place for boys in conflict with the law away from prison and for street boys, and a place of safety for abandoned or abused children.
