The total volume of carbon project offsets will total a minimum of 1 million tons of CO2 equivalent as measured by an independent verification firm for the period 2006-2012. This is the first time that EcoSecurities is bringing carbon project offsets into the U.S. Carbon offset projects are measured by an independent verification firm (e.g. KPMG, DNV, SGS) to calculate the volume of reduction in greenhouse gases. The reduction in this commitment is equivalent to removing over 100,000 cars from US roads for a period of one year.
EcoSecurities Group PLC is on track to meet its commitment to deliver 1 million metric tons of Verified Emission Reductions from international projects to buyers in the US. Buyers are increasingly gravitating towards the high quality voluntary reductions EcoSecurities is able to generate from the projects in it's portfolio awaiting CDM registration.
Accordingly, the company is creating new products to meet this demand. In February 2008, it introduced the Source 01 and Source 02 portfolio products, which represent 400,000 metric tons of emission reductions from international projects and are intended to explicitly increase demand among US buyers for reductions from global projects.
