APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY
Mission Serve (along with the other partners named above) has committed to hosting in Los Angeles, in the words of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the 'biggest and the best of the 100 hiring fairs that [the US Chamber] has committed to hold across the country through 2011. Employers will have job opportunities available and we will be tracking job placements through a new applicant tracking system that we will be bringing on line in the coming weeks.' Additionally, Mission Serve will be joined by partners from the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry who will help shine an additional spotlight on this initiative, further inspiring the rest of the nation's Chambers of Commerce to join this effort.
IMPLEMENTATION, TIMELINE, AND DELIVERABLES
January-March: Conceive of concept; begin organizing partners.
April: Assemble and finalize all partners.
May: Determine site (Sony Pictures Studios), begin communicating to veterans, military spouses, and businesses, and begin registering all three populations on U.S. Chamber of Commerce website.
July 10: Execute project.
July and August: Working through pre-existing tools, the U.S. and Los Angeles Area Chambers of Commerce, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Labor will determine how many veterans and military spouses at the hiring fair successfully obtained full or part-time employment. Will work with US Chamber of Commerce to determine if high-profile nature of event led to increased grassroots desire from local Chambers to take part in larger 'Hiring Our Heroes' program.
Remainder of 2011: The U.S. Chamber will host 100 hiring fairs with local chambers of commerce across the country with the only measure of success being jobs for the one million unemployed veterans in America. The first of 100 veteran hiring fairs took place in Chicago and was a huge success with 127 employers and 1200 veterans and their spouses participating. By reaching out to local military commanders and by seeking the help of the business community at large, the Chamber plans to create an environment in which thousands of military veterans and their spouses can find meaningful employment in their home states.
Seeking Partnership: Financial Resources
Mission Serve is looking for corporate or philanthropic partners who believe passionately in the cause of veteran and military spouses' employment to ensure that it can do its work most effectively, both in July and moving forward.
Offering Partnership: Media/Marketing Opportunities
Given the high-profile nature of this event and the VIPs attendees, Mission Serve believes that there will be extraordinary opportunities for media engagement around these issues.
