Vital Voices 2010: A Global Leadership Initiative
In 2007, Vital Voices, with partners and leading international institutions, committed to launch Vital Voices 2010. The program will apply cutting-edge leadership development and skills-building programs for women social entrepreneurs in Eurasia, South America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and raise mainstream awareness in communities throughout the globe that investing in women and girls will improve the world.
As of July 2008, the program has held several conferences including the Vital Voices Eurasia Women's Leadership Summit in 2007 and was host to the Leveling the Playing Field for Women's Economic & Social Progress program. During the latter, participants identified significant gender-based legal impediments faced by African women in the economic sector and then formulated strategic advocacy campaigns to advance reforms to address legal obstacles. They also developed plans of action to advocate for relevant policy changes in their regions and home countries.
