In 2013, carbon dioxide emissions comprised 82 percent of all U.S. greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere from human activities. The rising concern for our environment and the sustainability of the planet has led to more focused efforts on reversing the effects of climate change.
Youth for Global Change Program
In 2007, the Young Presidents Organization committed to providing $1,000,000 to Free The Children to increase the number of Youth in Action clubs by 1,000 within a 12-month period.
Youth in Action groups are the cornerstone of Free the Children's activities, focus, and programs. Youth in Action members across the world work together to fundraise, to learn through taking action and to build awareness of child labor issues.
The objectives of this commitment are as follows: to increase the number of new active clubs by 1,000; to increase the total amount fundraised by youth in the new clubs by $4,000; and to increase the number of club members.
In March, students from over 75 countries and 300 schools came together in Miami for CGI University, where they made hundreds of Commitments to Action that address pressing challenges on their campuses or in communities around the world.
