Watch the Closing Session of CGI America 2015

CGI America brings together leaders from the business, philanthropic, NGO, and government sectors to develop solutions for economic growth, long-term competitiveness, and social mobility in the United States.

CGI America's annual convening is designed to be a working meeting that promotes collaboration and actionable ideas. In addition to attending Plenary Sessions and networking events, meeting attendees join one of ten topic-specific Working Groups that each meet multiple times throughout the conference. Since the first meeting in 2011, CGI America attendees have made more than 500 Commitments to Action, which have already improved the lives of nearly 2.4 million people.

Working Group Model

The core of the CGI America meeting is the Working Group model, which consists of ten topic-specific groups—each bringing together about 60-120 diverse industry leaders. Attendees may join the Working Group of their choosing, and each group will convene several iterative sessions over the course of the meeting to share knowledge, build partnerships, and generate Commitments to Action—new, specific, and measurable plans for addressing significant challenges.

The 2015 Working Groups are organized into three categories—Economic Empowerment, Energy and the Built Environment, and Education and Skills Development.

Commitments to Action

Commitments to Action—a defining feature of CGI—are concrete plans that address a pressing challenge. They can be small or large, and financial or non-monetary in nature. Many commitments are the result of cross-sector partnerships, with attendees combining efforts to expand their impact. Every commitment must be new, specific, and measurable, and CGI America staff provide commitment-making support in the lead up to the meeting.
