Students from around the state will work in teams to create science-fair style presentations about the geography, history, and culture of one of these six countries: Brazil, China, Egypt, Chile, England, or Kenya.
Celebrating Cultures
Friday, May 23, 2014
9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Clinton Presidential Center & Park
Students will share music, cultural performances, arts, crafts, and food from around the world with their peers. In addition to demonstrating in-depth knowledge of their topic, teams are encouraged to include creative aspects in their presentations. Participation in this event will create opportunities for engaged learning and facilitate the development of skills like communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. A healthy spirit of competition between teams will help foster school spirit.
Projects will be judged based on originality, creativity, research and depth of understanding. Prizes include an iPad and Kindle Fires.
Celebrating Cultures is an opportunity for all students, not just those competing. Also, the Clinton Foundation will sponsor a free, on-campus pizza party to the school that brings the most students.  Transportation grants are available for schools that need assistance offsetting student transportation cost.  And finally, all students who attend Celebrating Cultures will receive a free three-day pass to Riverfest, which will be held throughout the weekend following our event.
To register and find out more information about the transportation grants, please contact Joyce Willis at [email protected] or 501-748-0472.
