The Clinton Presidential Center will host two student workshops in celebration of the 20th anniversary of AmeriCorps.
20 Years of AmeriCorps
September 11, 2014
9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m.- Noon
This year marks two decades since President Clinton created AmeriCorps and inaugurated the first class of AmeriCorps members. The program connects Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities and their nation. Since its inception, more than 900,000 men and women have taken the AmeriCorps pledge, serving over one billion hours and improving communities across the country.
These workshops will feature a panel discussion to inform students of the process of development of AmeriCorps, the social and economic changes that have occured as a result of the program, and President Clinton's role in the creation of AmeriCorps. Most importantly, students will learn about the history of service and why it is important today. Students will be encouraged to answer the challenging question, "How do you intend to make a difference in your community?"
