In 2012, ChildFund International committed to strengthening the quality and reach of its Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs in Ecuador, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Kenya, and Senegal. These programs will focus on creating safe and caring environments, with a focus on responsive caregivers, while increasing access to maternal and early child healthcare and nutrition, and encouraging high quality early childhood developmental stimulation. Over a period of three years, ChildFund will create the programs and train its more than 60 local implementing partners in these countries to deliver and support infants and young children. The programs will educate 900,000 caregivers with the goal of improving the lives of 600,000 children. This model is designed to provide capacity building and resources to local organizations, thus ensuring long-term sustainability and community and country ownership of these vital programs.
