Commitment to Action

Sustainable Energy Solutions Powered by Women's Enterprise

Commitment by

Solar Sister

In 2012, Solar Sister committed to expanding its network of Solar Sister Entrepreneurs by recruiting, training, and supporting an additional 3,000 women energy entrepreneurs in three new countries. This expansion builds on Solar Sister's success in Uganda and will create a path for women in Kenya, Tanzania, and Nigeria to become active and knowledgeable participants in a sustainable, market-based clean energy distribution network. In addition to improving their own economic status, these energy entrepreneurs will bring the benefits of solar lighting, mobile phone charging, and clean cookstove technologies to underserved and hard to reach rural communities.
