Commitment to Action

Campus Green

Commitment by

Ecoamerica

In 2006, ecoAmerica committed to launching Campus Green, a campaign to educate learning institutions on addressing climate change, operationally and academically, and to fulfill their 'social mission.' ecoAmerica has three initiatives focused on this community: a presidential pledge to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions known as The American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), a green jobs website with MonsterTRAK.com branded as GreenCareers, and a sustainability rating of colleges and universities with partner The Princeton Review known as College Green Rating.
As of 2009, 614 higher ed institutions representing more than 5 million students are committed to going climate neutral through the ACUPCC. The initial success of the GreenCareers site has led Monster Worldwide to plan to introduce GreenCareers for the spectrum of job opportunities on Monster.com in 2009. The College Green Rating is the first mainstream college green rating and has brought sustainability practices to the forefront for prospective college students and their parents while researching schools.
