10 Things Not To Miss During #CGI2013


As the 2013 CGI Annual Meeting begins, here are 10 not-to-miss highlights - out of many - of this year's meeting. Anyone can take part by watching the live webcast and engaging with #CGI2013 across social media:

1. Opening Dialogue on “Mobilizing For Impact”

During the opening session, President Bill Clinton will host a discussion on CGI’s 2013 theme, “Mobilizing For Impact,” with Bono, Khalida Brohi, Mo Ibrahim, Christine Lagarde, and Sheryl Sandberg. The conversation will focus on how CGI members - and individuals around the world - can mobilize people, partners, and resources to make the greatest possible impact in their work.

2. "Healthier Futures" Panel and Facebook Conversation with Chelsea Clinton

Chelsea Clinton will moderate a panel on Tuesday at 4pm ET about generating preventative health - panelists include Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization. After the session, join Chelsea for a live Q&A on Facebook

3. Video Progress Reports

Over 25 short films featuring the progress of CGI commitments will be screened during the Annual Meeting. The films will also be debuting on the CGI YouTube channel throughout the meeting.

4. A Health Care Dialogue with President Obama

On Tuesday at 5pm ET, President Barack Obama and President Clinton will engage in a dialogue about the future of health care reform in America and access to quality health care around the globe.

5. "Designing Ideas" Sessions

For the second year, CGI members will engage in special interactive "design" Breakout Sessions, to generate new Commitment to Action ideas and answers to specific "how" questions. This year's sessions will explore topics such as "How can women transform their lives using mobile technologies?" and "How can we strive towards zero waste in global supply chains?"

6. “CGI Conversations” Filmed for Broadcast

A number of Breakout Sessions will be hosted by news anchors and taped to air during and following the Annual Meeting. Session hosts include CNBC's Maria Bartiromo, CNN's Piers Morgan and Fareed Zakaria, and PBS's Charlie Rose.

7. "Big Bets" Philanthropy Panel with Bill Gates

Bill Gates, co-chair and trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will participate in a Tuesday panel discussing "'Big Bets' Philanthropy" on Tuesday at 12:30pm ET.

8. "Commitment Case Studies"

In these Breakout Sessions, members will examine existing CGI commitments and analyze their successes, failures, and most important lessons learned. The conversation will then focus on how these insights can help maximize the impact of others' efforts.

9. Join the Global Conversation

Follow the #CGI2013 hashtag on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to see unique insights from attendees of the Annual Meeting, ask questions of panelists, share ideas on mobilizing for impact, and get involved with CGI commitments.


A first for the Annual Meeting, the last session will feature a performance by a youth orchestra - part of a CGI commitment - and remarks by President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and special guests.
