This year, Willow Creek held a 5K run with 4,100 people participants, with all proceeds used to provide shoes for children in needy countries. Through April and May, Willow Creek will pack vegetable seeds to send to South Africa, enabling families to grow their own food for themselves and for community members. On June 1, 2013, Willow Creek will be opening up a $10,000,000 Care Center to help provide food, clothing, health care, and legal aid for those less fortunate.
April 2010
- Provided 28 water filtration systems that made water available to 200,000 people
- 17,000 volunteers packed over four million meals for Zimbabwe
- Over $2 million were donated for these projects
May 2009
- Engaged over 18,000 volunteers to pack over four million meals for children in Zimbabwe. This amounts to a three-month supply.
- Collected over $1.5 million (May 2 - 3) that will be donated to alleviate poverty and provide access to water in communities of Africa and other places. Another $500,000 in donations is anticipated.
- Thousands of the Willow Creek Church congregation took on the challenge of eating only rice and beans and drinking only tap water for five days in order to better understand the poverty that goes on everyday in Africa and other places.
