Report by the McKinsey Health Institute and Clinton Health Access Initiative shows the urgency of Mental Health Investment

Health experts acknowledge that mental health conditions on their own can lead to poor physical health, and exacerbate other conditions including cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and more. Despite this, mental health interventions are largely underfunded globally. According to a new report from the McKinsey Health Institute and the Clinton Health Access Initiative, the global gap in funding for mental health solutions is $200 billion to $350 billion annually. In the report, researchers find a wide range of proven, cost-effective treatments for mental health diseases – including psychotherapy, psychiatric drugs, and digital therapy – that deserve more investment. Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle unveil memorial in NYC to show the human cost of online harm

The Archewell Foundation recently revealed the Lost Screen Memorial in New York City—a powerful multimedia art installation honoring the lives of children lost to online harm. As part of the Foundation’s No Child Lost to Social Media campaign, led through The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Network, the memorial is a powerful call to action for urgent online safety reform. The Lost Screen Memorial is a continuation of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex’s call to action made at last year’s CGI Annual Meeting. European Investment Bank commits $60M toward climate-focused projects

Commitment-maker LeapFrog Investments’ Climate Investment Strategy recently received a $60 million pledge from the European Investment Bank to fund investments in green technology, sustainable infrastructure, and other climate-focused initiatives. Joined by partners such as IFC, Temasek, and SIFEM, the fund aims to invest in clean mobility, solar power, sustainable cooking, and more. In 2022, LeapFrog Investments announced a commitment to invest and to support 25 million micro, small, and medium-sized businesses in emerging markets by 2030.  See how EIB’s commitment will impact climate solutions here.

 

CGI Greenhouse’s Ignitia announces partnerships with Nigerian Meteorological Agency 

Ignitia, a tech company sharing AI-weather and climate information, recently partnered with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), combining NiMet’s expertise with Ignitia’s AI-weather forecast model. The partnership will help millions of Nigerians to access reliable, hyper-local weather and climate information. This will also help farmers, insurers, and community members make better decisions when faced with climate uncertainty and extreme weather conditions. New overdose aid kits installed in Wisconsin

The Oshkosh School District of Oshkosh, Wisconsin partnered with the Clinton Foundation to install Overdose Aid Kits in schools across the district. Overdose Aid Kits or OAKs are metal boxes that include narcan nasal spray, a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose; breathing masks; instructions for administering Narcan in an emergency; Fentanyl test strips and more. Commitment-maker GitLab Foundation and partners announce $16M workforce development fund 

GitLab Foundation and the Families and Workers Fund recently launched the Powering Economic Opportunity Fund, a $16 million partnership to help low-wage workers learn skills and transition into high-growth careers like renewable energy, infrastructure modernization, and other careers in manufacturing. The Powering Economic Opportunity Fund hopes to train workers to fill regional hiring shortages, while also uplifting communities and businesses nationwide. A Key Milestone for the Bureau for Investigative Journalism

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ), a member of the CGI community, this month marks 15 years of critical public interest journalism around the world. Over the years, TBIJ’s reporting has helped open access to medical oxygen, reshaped international supply chains, and shone a spotlight on human rights violations worldwide.
