Hillary and I liked and admired Congressman Leonard Boswell very much. In his 16 years on Capitol Hill he served his constituents well and was an important voice for rural America and our veterans.
Perhaps most important today, Leonard was a kind, generous man who believed that public service is a noble calling, that his political opponents were not his enemies, and that principled compromise is the lifeblood of a functioning democracy. We’ll always be grateful for the chance to work with him and for his friendship and support over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Dody, and his entire family.
