Statement from President Clinton on the Passing of Annie Glenn

Hillary and I were saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Annie Glenn.  America fell in love with Annie and her family during the early days of the space program.  As a military spouse, and wife of one of our nation’s most celebrated astronauts and admired Senators, Annie’s steadfast strength in the face of tremendous risk is a reminder of the courage and sacrifice that have preserved American ideals and our most magnificent achievements.

Annie’s personal courage in overcoming stuttering inspired so many throughout her life, as did her kind, compassionate voice for the elderly and people with disabilities.  She was as gifted a politician as her husband, and her love of people and years of hard work in John’s Senate office meant that Ohio was blessed by the service of not one, but two great Americans. Our hearts, prayers, and lasting gratitude are with her family.
